Inspiration for a Good Cause

So... I've dabbled in card making for a little while now and none of them were note worthy. Then, I came across this blog
http://www.wilnaf.blogspot.com/ and read about her friend dying with cancer. Please scroll down and read about cards for lois. I wish I knew how to link it to my blog but alas I am no good with computers!! Anyway, I wanted to do a card for her because I have lost family to cancer and I remember how helpless it felt. Here is my card:
I pieced paper to make the bird. I used the edging technique I spoke of before for the wing and added wire for his hair. My favorite part is his eye! It's those rolling eyes kids use in crafts at school. I was excited to finally have a project to use them on. Please, if you can, send a card. I know it would mean the world to Lois!

Happy Tuesday!

I woke up this morning to the baby having a runny nose and fever. His last "vampire" tooth is coming in. I'm sooo ready for ALL his teeth to be in!! So today he's doing alot of sleeping (gotta make up for last night) and I'm doing alot of scrapping!! I love the Gretel line from Cosmo Cricket. The papers are so rustic looking. I have a passion for the "old" stuff!

I also love glitter!! For the accents, I edged them with a glue stick and then dipped them in glitter. I think it adds the perfect touch. Hope you have a great day! I must scurry on before little man realizes I'm having fun and wakes up :D !

I've been tagged, again!!

I was tagged again. No prob. In fact, it makes me feel loved and doesn't everyone want to feel loved?

Here are the rules:

1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.

2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name).

3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers.

4. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details).

So this time I'm going with my nick name (it's shorter!).... Shell

S-Simple. I like the simple things in life; gardens, flowers, backyard BBQ's.

H-Heritage. That's why I'm doing an album on it. I love my family and my hubby's fam and I want to be able to pass it all down through my kids.

E-Enjoy life. It's short.

L-LORD. Jesus Christ is LORD of my life.

L-Laughter. I think a house filled with laughter makes it a happy home!

Now I think I'll tag:

Scrappyhappy08

Samantha

Kelli

Melissa

Yeah, I know I'm one short but hubby's rushing me out the door. Sorry.

We've been really busy the past few days. My mom has been very sick, my sweet hubby has been working TOO much, and the boys... well, they've been boys :D ! I haven't had time to think, much less scrap. Here's a LO I did a while back. I love baby boy in these pics. He's so bueatiful. Here's a pic I took of the guys the other day. The big boys needed a hair cut badly, but I still like the pic. It's hard getting a good photo of all 3 boys!
Oh yeah, I found something in my heritage search today!! We knew my hubby's granddad was raised by someone other than his parents because they died when he was young, but we had no idea it was his older half sister!! Her mom died when she was 2 yrs. old and the dad remarried and had hubby's granddad. Hope you could follow that. It was exciting to find it out!! Well, I'm off to bed. Nighty, nite!

Overwhelmed!!!!

This is what my dining room table looks like right now. I feel I've been bombarded by old photos and papers that make no sense!!

Needless to say, my heritage album is not going as well as I had hoped and I am NOT having fun!!! I'm calling out to anyone who can hear me over this mess... HELP!!! Any advice is welcome, because I obviously don't know what I'm doing!

Happy Valentine's Week!

In our house we celebrate Valentine's Day all week long. O.K. I celebrate Valentine's all week long, but I'm the only girl in a house of boys so this is my chance to get lots of sugar without any complaining! Here are the cakes I made for my guys. Nothing fancy, but everyone seemed to like it.

Here's the LO I did in between decorating the cakes. I had another plan for it, but this is how it came out. Have you ever done that? Imagine your page and by the time you finish it looks completely different? Oh well. Practice makes perfect, right?
I do love the yawning mouse!! Hope everyone has a great Valentine's week!!!

Mama's Brag Book!

I'm so excited with how this turned out. I used d rings that I found at Walmart (one of the few things you can still find there). I had alot of chip board left over from pp packs, so I used that to make the book. I used Crate Paper patterned paper.

The pictures start from when DH and I married and go through to present day. It's wallets from when we have pics professionally done. Makes a great way to store them.
On another note... DS's have NO HOMEWORK!!!!!!!!! I know I shouldn't be so happy, but they really load these kids down with homework. They're only in the 2nd grade. I think alot of it is so unnessesary. So I'm off to enjoy my boys :) !

No LO today :(

I would so like to be scrapbooking today, but sometimes life just doesn't cooperate. Between cleaning and watching a whiny baby (who I adore), I had to fix this pocketbook for my mother-in-law. Of course, my sewing machine broke in the middle of the project. It's so old, I really need a new one!
I've done better pocketbooks, but hopefully my MIL will be happy with it. She and DH are HUGE tarheel fans!!! Well I must go. Next on my list.. finish my quilt. I'll post pics when done. Then I can get back to scrapping.

A Horse and a LO

I am so excited about this LO. One of my own personal goals is to use digital templates to make traditional pages. I love digital LO but let's face it they are expensive to print and mine will likely never be printed. I like to flip through my albums often and I think the page below is the perfect example of how to get the best of both worlds. I made the template for the circle using a bowl in my kitchen and a little imagination. Then I painted and glittered some letters (some are Basic Grey and I glued pattern paper onto them). The arrow was the connecting touch. I entered it in a contest at http://juliebonner.typepad.com/. Go check her out. She's doing a weekly sketch challenge. And she's doing a special challenge.

On another note... my mom and dad brought this horse for Timothy. All 3 boys have really enjoyed it and I've enjoyed watching them.
Have a Happy Thursday!!

January in review

Here's the first page to my mini book. I printed the pictures smaller that I thought, but after I embellished it I was happy with it. I was disappointed that I couldn't get any really good snow pictures, but I'm glad the snow didn't stick around for long. Didn't DH's mailbox turn out awesome!! Can't even believe he did it all with spray cans. I told him he should paint them and sell them!

P.S. If your looking for the rules to the game of tag...I posted them yesterday so scroll down.
